Iftekhar Uddin

Iftekhar is the Research Compute Lead at MATS, where he manages the compute infrastructure supporting fellows' research. His work spans GPU cluster operations, cloud compute platforms, research engineering support, and enabling technically demanding AI safety projects.A physician by training, Iftekhar spent four years at Johns Hopkins conducting cardiology research focused on heart disease epidemiology and statistics (H-index: 23). Prior to MATS, he worked on vision-language models and as a robotics engineer specializing in industrial collaborative robots. His interests center on building reliable, secure systems that enable high-impact AI safety research and engineering.
