Jim Chapman

Jim Chapman leads the MATS Operations Team, which builds and maintains the organizational infrastructure that enables MATS to effectively support the needs of its AI researchers. He brings extensive senior management and operations leadership experience from roles in the nonprofit, academia, and consulting sectors. Jim’s interest in AI, rationality, and effective altruism began through conversations with his son—a curiosity that deepened into concern and ultimately a personal commitment to ensuring AI benefits humanity. Joining MATS is his way of putting that commitment into action.
